Funding provided by Dr. and Mrs. Montesinos, private
individuals, Rotary International and U.S. corporate
donations has equipped: one operating theater,
adult and pediatrics cardiovascular intensive care units,
the outpatient office, and hospitalization facilities.
Cardiac surgery is one of the most costly medical
procedures because of the usage of high technology
and expensive materials and medicines. This
unique permanent program serves the poor
and the indigent. The donations from the Program
reduce hospital charges to US $10.00 per day
of post cardiac surgical ICU and $3.00 per regular
hospital bed.

The goal of Dr. Montesinos and the Program
volunteers in Lima, and the United States, is
to raise additional funds to provide the material
and medicine for the more than 500 patients that come
to the program per year. The cost per procedure, in
material and medicines, runs from US $4,000 to
$5,000, plus the cost of a heart valve per patient.
Additional funding is also needed to cover
the cost of transportation of donated material from
the U.S. to Peru, and for the repairing of aging equipment.

TO ADOPT OR SPONSOR A PATIENT
PLEASE CONTACT:   emonte@aressco.com

The patient is responsible for the cost of
hospitalization, ICU, OR, lab and other ancillary
tests, x-rays, and purchasing basic medications.
Their cost totals from $700 to $1,000 dollars,
depending on the complexity of the operation,
and length of hospital stay. Sponsoring a patient will
help with this portion of the expense. There is
no surgery fee; PCTCV provides most of the
disposable materials and supplies, and special
medicines necessary for the heart operation.
When you adopt a patient, you will receive a photo,
and a letter with complete information about the
patient that you have sponsored.

PCTCV receives donations of medical equipment,
heart valves, pace makers, materials, supplies and
special medicines for open heart surgery from
institutions, friends and physicians.
